Congressional Scorecards

The Center for Freethought Equality Congressional Scorecard diligently monitors significant legislation for the humanist and atheist community. Our community has a wide range of interests in public policy, including safeguarding the secular nature of our government and the separation of church and state, addressing climate change and environmental justice, promoting human rights and civil liberties, advocating for religious freedom domestically and internationally, and ensuring the well-being, health, safety, and dignity of all people.

To assess each member of Congress, selected legislation is utilized to generate a score that reflects their support or opposition to these policy issues. Representatives’ scores are determined by floor votes and membership in the Congressional Freethought Caucus, while Senators’ scores are based on floor votes and co-sponsorship of relevant legislation.
