Tell your Representative to Act for Abortion Access by Signing the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) Discharge Petition!

Representatives Diana DeGette (CO-1), Barbara Lee (CA-12), and Judy Chu (CA-28) have filed a discharge petition to attempt to force a House vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA). Your representative has until 9am Friday, June 23rd, 2023 to sign it and act for abortion access.

If passed, WHPA would finally codify the abortion rights guaranteed by Roe v. Wade nearly 50 years ago. This important bill would protect the rights under siege by harmful state laws often motivated by narrow religious views of healthcare access in our communities. The bill guarantees the right of a patient to access an abortion and the right of an abortion provider to deliver such service.

Equal access to abortion care everywhere is vital to social and economic equality, reproductive autonomy, and the right to determine our own lives. WHPA made great strides last year, but shamefully could not quite make it to the finish line. Now, you have the chance to tell Congress loud and clear: liberate abortion and reproductive freedom!

Act now: urge your Representative to sign the discharge petition.

Roe provided basic protection for abortion rights. Since the Supreme Court overturned it last year, millions have not been able to access abortions in their home state. To be crystal clear: any law, anywhere, that restricts the rights of patients or doctors to receive or provide abortion care is unacceptable. Clearly, states cannot be trusted to protect this essential right, and to allow people to make their own decisions about their bodies, their families, and their futures. That’s why we need Congress to pass WHPA.

Your Representative needs to hear from their humanist constituents - take just a moment to reach out to them today and demand they liberate abortion and reproductive rights by signing the discharge petition!

Thanks for standing up for reproductive rights.
